Wedding Photography & Videography FAQs
Below are just a few common questions I get asked by couples. If you have any queries or anything you want to ask please do not hesitate to call me on 07951 077196 or email me at petedavisweddings@gmail.com. I will be more than happen to answer your questions in full.
Here a just a few questions I get asked on a regular basis.
(Q) How long have you been photographing and filming weddings?
(A) I have been photographing and filming weddings for more than 20 years, capturing everything from the big moments to the smaller, genuine moments that make each wedding unique.
(Q) What equipment do you use for wedding photography and videography?
(A) I use professional cameras, lenses and video equipment to capture your wedding day to a high standard. I currently use three Sony cameras and a Panasonic Lumix camera, along with a range of professional-quality lenses. For wedding films, I also use equipment including a DJI gimbal, GoPro cameras and other specialist video equipment. I carry a range of additional equipment and backup options so I can adapt to different locations, lighting conditions and the needs of your wedding day.
(Q) Do you arrange to meet couples before their wedding?
(A) Yes. I’m happy to arrange a video call or online meeting if you would like to talk through your wedding plans, photography or videography options. Many couples find an online meeting convenient, but there is no pressure to arrange a meeting if you would prefer to communicate by email, WhatsApp, Messenger or phone. I’ll stay in regular contact with you in the lead-up to your wedding and make sure we have everything planned for the day.
(Q) How will you photograph or film our wedding?
(A) Every wedding is different, so I tailor my approach to your plans, venue, lighting, weather and the way your day unfolds.
My style is natural and relaxed, with a focus on capturing genuine moments, emotions, laughter and the atmosphere of your wedding day. I don't want you to spend the day feeling like you are constantly posing for the camera.
Before your wedding, I’ll discuss your plans and the type of coverage you want so I can create a photography and videography approach that suits you. On the day, I’ll work unobtrusively while also giving gentle direction when it is helpful, allowing you to enjoy your wedding while I capture the story as it happens.
(Q) How many photos will we have and when will we get to see them or our video?
(A) I usually provide between 200 and 500 professionally edited wedding photographs, depending on your chosen package, the length of coverage and how your wedding day unfolds.
Your photographs are carefully selected, edited and colour-corrected before being placed in your private online gallery. You’ll receive a secure gallery link by email, allowing you to view your photographs privately and share them with family and friends if you wish.
My typical turnaround time is around 4 to 8 weeks, although this can vary depending on the time of year and my current workload. During the busy summer wedding season, delivery can sometimes take a little longer.
Depending on your package, your photographs will either be available to download from your online gallery or supplied on USB.
(Q) When will we receive our wedding videos and how long are they?
(A) Wedding video editing takes time because all editing is completed in-house. My typical turnaround time for the final wedding films is 12 to 16 weeks, although this can vary depending on the time of year and current workload and your position in the editing queue.
Depending on your videography package, you will receive:
-
A 10 to 12-minute highlights film, featuring key moments from throughout your wedding day and professionally edited with licensed or royalty-free music.
-
The full wedding ceremony.
-
The full wedding speeches.
-
The highlights film is captured in a natural, documentary-style way, with footage recorded throughout the day from preparations through to the first dance.
The final highlights film length and content can vary depending on your venue, the size of your wedding, weather conditions and the amount of time available to capture footage with you and your guests.
For legal and venue-related reasons, the actual signing of the marriage register may not be filmed or photographed. Where permitted, a staged or mock signing may sometimes be possible.
Please refer to my full terms and conditions for further details.
(Q) Do you supply RAW photos or unedited video footage?
(A) No. I don't supply or sell the RAW photographs or unedited video footage from your wedding.
RAW files require professional editing and colour correction before they are suitable as finished photographs or films. Wedding video footage can also involve very large file sizes and many hours of material.
Your final photographs and wedding films are professionally selected, edited and colour-corrected to give you the best finished result from your wedding day.
The photographs and videos supplied to you will therefore be the professionally edited final versions included in your chosen package.
(Q) When will we receive our wedding album and how do we choose the photographs?
(A) For a typical 40-page wedding album, around 90 to 120 favourite photographs usually work well. I’ll design the album for you, selecting a balanced range of images to tell the story of your wedding day.
Once the initial design is ready, you can keep the photographs I have selected or request changes by letting me know the image numbers you would like to swap.
You will still receive all of the photographs included in your chosen package through your online gallery. This is typically between 200 and 500 professionally edited images, depending on your package and the coverage provided.
Once the album design has been approved and ordered, production usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks. When your album arrives, I’ll let you know and we can arrange a convenient time for you to collect it.
(Q) Sharing your wedding photographs on social media
(A) Yes. You are welcome to share your wedding photographs on Facebook and other social media platforms.
I recommend using correctly sized images for social media, as platforms such as Facebook can compress photographs and reduce their quality. If you would like, I can prepare your photographs specifically for social media, including resizing and adding a watermark, for a £30 charge.
If you have a wedding video and would like to share part of it online, I can also produce a short trailer using suitable licensed or royalty-free music. This can be arranged separately if required.
(Q) What happens if it rains?
(A) The weather is something none of us can control, but rain doesn't have to stop us from capturing beautiful wedding photographs and films.
I discuss weather plans with every couple in advance so we can be prepared for different conditions on the day. If the weather changes, I'll adapt the photography and videography around the venue, available spaces, lighting and your plans.
Some of the most natural and memorable wedding photographs can happen when the weather doesn't go exactly as planned, so there is no need to worry if rain is forecast.
(Q) How couples book you
(A) Once you have chosen your photography or videography package, I’ll reserve your wedding date through my professional booking system.
You’ll then receive a personal online booking form by email containing your package details, quotation and relevant terms and conditions. To secure your wedding date, you’ll need to complete the booking form and pay a £100 booking fee.
The booking fee can be paid by debit or credit card or by bank transfer, and is deducted from your final balance.
The remaining balance is due two weeks before your wedding date and is payable by bank transfer.
If you have any questions about choosing a package or booking your date, I’m happy to discuss everything with you before you commit.
